Fletcher wants away improvement

Darren Fletcher has warned that Manchester United will miss out on the title unless they improve their away form.

Although the Red Devils are unbeaten in the league this season, they have won only one of their seven trips away from Old Trafford.

On Saturday, United battled back from two goals down at Aston Villa to claim a point but Scotland international Fletcher is still not happy.

The 26-year-old is pleased with their never-say-die character but he wants them to up their game over the 90 minutes.

United are now just three points adrift of leaders Chelsea, but Fletcher says they will get nothing unless they start winning away from home.

"It's not good enough," Fletcher said. "We need to start winning away because if you don't it will end up costing you the league.

"You can't wait for a kick up the backside, like going two goals down, to get us playing. You can't afford to keep doing that.

"Of course you get a response when you lose goals like that, that's natural and to come back into the game shows great character.

"The only consolation is the way we came back. You have to look for positives and we never lost the match.

"But this is not the first time it's happened. At the beginning of the season, we were winning and then losing goals. Now it's a case of going behind and coming back."
