Vidic demands improvement

Nemanja Vidic has called on Manchester United to tighten up in defence if they are to mount a sustained Premier League title challenge.

The Red Devils missed the opportunity to take advantage of defeats for both Chelsea and Arsenal this weekend as they had to come from behind twice at Bolton.

Owen Coyle's men went ahead early on when Patrice Evra strayed off the post he was guarding to allow Zat Knight to open the scoring.

After Nani's superb equaliser, the Trotters went back in front through Martin Petrov's deflected effort before Johan Elmander missed a glorious chance to make it 3-1, with Michael Owen climbing off the bench to head the leveller.

Sir Alex Ferguson's men have now drawn all three games on their travels, conceding late goals against both Fulham and Everton to sit three points adrift of leaders Chelsea.

And Vidic, who again skippered the side in the absence of Rio Ferdinand, has demanded an improvement from his team-mates.

"It is a big concern that we are conceding so many away goals," said Vidic. "We have to stop doing it. We cannot let it happen again.

"Over the last few years we haven't given that many goals away or even allowed them so many chances.

"Before we have always looked strong, so this is not what we are used to.

"We have to play much better in our away games."
