Possebon returns to Santos

Rodrigo Possebon has left Manchester United for a return to Brazil with Santos.

The 21-year-old midfielder has signed a four-year contract with the Sao Paulo state champions after failing to make the grade at Old Trafford.

Possebon had been tipped for a loan move to Rangers, but preferred to go back to Brazil, where he came to prominence with Internacional before joining United two years ago.

'It was a great experience in Europe, but now I want to adapt again as quickly as possible,' he said.

It is a double boost for Santos, who also tied Chelsea target Neymar to a new contract.

However, they sold promising 21-year-old midfielder Wesley to Werder Bremen, who met his £8.25million release clause and see him as a player who can in part replace Mesut Ozil.

I think the injury was more mental than physical. It was a bad gash but it wasnt borken. Shame because he looked to have real qualities. Freeing up a midfield spot for the likes of Tunnicliffe, Evans and Pogba to step up to the reserves can only be a good thing though.

He struggled after that injury though, and having turned 21 was unlikely to feature in our PL squad. I'm assuming that (unlike the twins) he wouldn't have been here long enough to count as homegrown either? Best of luck to the lad with his career anyway.

That really is a shame, he looked very promising up until that injury against Boro.
