Burnley Looking To Sign Eagles

Burnley manager Owen Coyle is hoping to sign Manchester United winger Chris Eagles in what could be a club-record transfer.

Eagles, 22, has found opportunities limited at Old Trafford since making his debut in October 2003, and has not made a first-team appearance since last December.

Clarets boss Coyle admitted the Red Devils wideman could command a big fee and the sum could outstrip the £1.3million recently paid to Scunthorpe for Martin Paterson.

Coyle told the Lancashire Telegraph: "It's a bit complicated in that there is another club interested in him, but he has real quality.

"We had a terrific meeting with him and his representative, obviously with permission from his club, because there would be a big fee involved in that."
