Rossi pleads for United chance

Giuseppe Rossi has pleaded for Manchester United to give him opportunity to prove his quality, amid talk of growing interest from Italy.

The diminutive striker spent much of the past campaign at Parma and it is thought a series of exciting and mature displays caught the attention of Juventus amongst others.

It is well known in Italian circles that Parma are keen to extend Rossi's spell at Stadio Ennio Tardini, with some reports on Sunday also linking the Serie A club with a move for his Manchester United team-mate Kieran Richardson.

Parma president Tommaso Ghirardi is believed to have met United chief executive David Gill on Tuesday:

"I will do all I can to make sure Rossi stays with us," he told the Daily Star Sunday.

"We will see what we have to offer to bring him back to the club."

However, Rossi - despite the plethora of attacking talent at Sir Alex Ferguson's disposal - is confident he can make a name for himself at Old Trafford.

"My future is a bit confusing with United and I will have to evaluate the situation, but I want to play for them.

"Joining Juventus is just talk, I've read about it once or twice but it's not on my mind. My goal is going back to United and being able to cut it.

"When opportunities come along I hope to be there and impress."
