Foster tells of frustration

Manchester United's Ben Foster has spoken of his frustration at sitting on the sidelines as he recovers from a ruptured cruciate ligament injury.

Foster had high hopes for this season, after performing admirably during his loan spell at Watford last campaign.

And the 24-year-old stopper had his sights set on putting the pressure on current first-team keeper Edwin van der Sar.

However, the long-term knee injury has ended his hopes, with a return to action not likely until March.

Foster admits that chances of him featuring for United this season are all but non-existant, and he is hoping a loan move can save his year.

"It is going to be early February before I can start training with the rest of the squad again and March before I can play," he told Manchester United Radio.

"It is definitely something to aim for [to play for United's first-team]. But at this moment in time I would take anything; the reserves or a short loan spell

"I am an awful watcher, and this whole experience has been massively frustrating for me.

"I had a lot of expectation for what this season was going to hold for me. It is so disappointing when you are told you are going to be out for eight months.

"All you can do is let it seep into your head, then knuckle down to some hard work."
