 Ozil
I dont want to start rumours purley based on bookmakers odds but I am going to anyway . Sky bet has slasehd his odds he has gone from 5/1 to 1/5 which basically means they think it is a certain thing. I remember the same thing happened with Owen last year before it was even known we was after him. Fingers crossed no doubt we would all want this one to happen. http://www.skybet.com/betting/football/ ... 03041.html

 Re: Ozil
http://www.caughtoffside.com/2010/07/29 ... e-slashed/Quote: Manchester United are apparently closing in on Werder Bremen playmaker Mesut Ozil and a deal to sign the impressive German international could be forced through in the coming days. Having watched his side thrash the MLS All Stars Sir Alex Ferguson is still looking to add more strength to his Old Trafford side before the Premier League kicks off.
The betting odds on the 21 year old’s switch from the Bundesliga to Man United have been slashed to 1/5 at Sky Bet and chief executive David Gill has been at pains to point out that the club will be given funds to bring in more additions.
Thus far Ferguson has brought in young defender Chris Smalling and Mexican international Javier Hernandez but may feel he needs more creativity and perhaps most importantly a player in his armoury who can score goals from midfield.
Werder Bremen are more likely to attempt to offload the starlet than take the chance of the former Schalke man leaving for nothing next summer. They are thought to be willing to accept offers of around £12m for the impressive German international who was one of his country’s top performers at the World Cup as well as finishing last term as the leading assist maker in the Bundesliga. £12million would be an absolute bargain based on what we've seen of him at the world cup. To be honest, I haven't seen much of him playing for Werder Bremen but for £12m it's a risk worth taking.

 Re: Ozil
Betting odds mean nothing.
All it means is that the bookies are altering their odds as people have placed money on it happening, they're just protecting their money. They'd change their odds if someone put £2.50 on. He's still odds on to join Bayern Munich with some bookies. They know as much as us.
He is undoubtedly a great player, but I just think we need to avoid looking at him like some saviour. I'd love it if he joined us, and he has the potential to be the next Scholesy, but I don't think our season hinges on this one transfer.

 Re: Ozil
If it's true that the price is something like 12 or 15m its an absolute no brainer. Agree that he shouldn't be looked at as some kind of saviour but it would really give us a lift eh.

 Re: Ozil
He was fantastic at the world cup, but he played just off the striker with nearly no defensive responsiblity. Not really a Scholes replacement. For 12m or so though, its a steal and i suppose we could shunt him off to the left flank or play him instead of Berbatov.

I happened to stumble across a few other betting sites where the same had happened and wondered whether it could seriously mean anything. Still sceptical though, but keeping fingers crossed!

Same old same old. Reliable source says that, the player himself says this. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528, ... 72,00.htmlHis futures colours are about as nailed down as a womans mood.

 Re: Ozil
I think we'll bid for him and be allowed to speak to him, but so will a few other clubs. Just hope this is not a man influenced more by money than anything else.

 Re: Ozil
Doubt we'll even do that.
Factor in the way that we had to pull out of the Llajic deal as we lacked the money to complete for a guy of a similar age and potential.

 Re: Ozil
Possibly that was also because he was unproven?
Just trying to be a bit optimistic here!

 Re: Ozil
He might want to stay in Germany this season but if you were Bremen, and you knew he was off next year anyway, wouldn't you cash in now?
I don't think the four English clubs looking at him have given up.

 Re: Ozil
Surely Bremen will sell him? It makes no sense to keep him and let him walk away for free in a year.
I would love for United to sign him.

 Re: Ozil
He'll sit out this year and land at Real next summer, if WB decide to cash in they can't force him to accept A move over THE move he's after.

 Re: Ozil
where did you hear about Milner?
I dont think we are in for Ozil. surely if we were then we would ahve made a move by now and got him in pre season?
I can see a smaller known name like Annan or Defour being more likely.
