Post Saha out til Nov/Dec
http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hli ... k+for+Saha

does this make our need for a striker even more urgent?

i would liek to see a striker signed now and then when saha returns it would be a huge boost the squad.

I guess it means that theres no chance of him leaving this summer. We still have Rossi and Smith at the moment so i can't see us moving for anyone unless either of them leave.

just read this.

i think this means we will definitely sign a striker, we will have too. we cant rely on rooney to score goals (smith isnt a goal scrorer and rossi is unproven at the moment, and possibly going out on loan again).

We have Saha that cant channel surf without snapping a tendon & Smith who work's like a trojan an finish's like Bambi to avoid slapping too much pressure on Rossi i think it's no reached the stage were we cash in on Smith and try to bring in a finisher whoever it may ba

I agree, we'd probably recoup most of what we paid out on Smith. If we get Saha fit for the turn of the year and he's able to play the remainder of the season and put in some good performances then I see no reason why we wouldn't get what we paid for him either if someone like Lyon came in for him which would give us around £20m to spend on a new striker without the Glazers dipping into their own pockets which we know will never happen.

If Heinze is off as well which is expected then we could have nearly £30m in funds to spend on a striker assuming that any money from sales isn't going to finance the transfers we've already made.

We certainly need someone though as Smith and Rooney aren't out and out strikers whilst Ole is getting on a bit and Rossi is unproven.

Why doesn't saha just retire i'm bored of him now.......he never plays morethan 3 games without dying for 6 months anyway.......I'd rather bring Gary Birtles out of retirement..........

Sell Smith and saha? I doubt we'd get 12 million for Saha, with him being so injury prone. But if we did sell them both to get one striker then we've only three strikers left (ruling Ole out because of likelihood of injuries).

But I suppose if we're to consistently play the 4-5-1 formation then maybe there's no need for Fergie's favourite of having four strikers.

Nevertheless, as you say, with money for Smith and Heinze plus whatever was earmarked for a striker anyway should get us someone.
